The venues of the stARTfestival

The stARTfestival brings outstanding artists to special locations around Bayer sites: from the Erholungshaus in Leverkusen to the Scala Club and the Historische Stadthalle in Wuppertal, as well as venues in Monheim, Berlin, or Weimar. On this page, we present three of the regularly used venues as examples.

"Home Venues" in Leverkusen

The Erholungshaus

Opened in 1908 as the "cultural house" of Bayer AG, it is the oldest venue in Leverkusen—a space for arts and culture. Versatile and diverse. Home venue of the stARTfestival. With the festival opening. With exclusive programs and guest performances.

The Scala Club

Another venue of the stARTfestival in Leverkusen is the Scala Club in Opladen. It is one of the most renowned live clubs in NRW and is a key fixture in the cultural life of the city. It offers an intimate club atmosphere with professional technology and a diverse program ranging from concerts to comedy and cabaret to readings, complemented by a restaurant and cinema under one roof.

The Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal

"An almost magical place for music." The great pianist Hélène Grimaud could hardly describe the Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal any better. Acoustically one of the best concert halls in Europe, architecturally a magnificent Art Nouveau building on Wuppertal's Johannisberg. A cultural palace.

Built between 1895 and 1900 and since then inseparably linked to the success story of Bayer AG, which began in Wuppertal-Barmen in 1863 with the founding of the company "Friedr. Bayer et Comp.". As a venue, the Stadthalle continues to delight and inspire internationally renowned artists and orchestras who regularly visit from all over the world. The Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal: Simply outstanding.
