The Erholungshaus
The neo-Baroque Erholungshaus was opened in 1908 as the cultural house of Bayer AG and is the oldest venue in Leverkusen. The name "Erholungshaus" reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of the early 20th century, as the house, with its gymnasium, restaurant, and reading room, initially served primarily the employees, their families, and the cultural company associations as a venue for gatherings, entertainment, education, and sports. In the post-war years, a lively guest performance operation began to develop with renowned theaters such as the Burgtheater Vienna, the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, and many Cologne stages. Severely damaged by a fire in 1975, the cultural house was reopened in 1977 after extensive construction measures. Since then, several renovation measures have followed. Throughout the year, numerous cultural events take place in the Erholungshaus, including the Leverkusen Jazz Days, but the house can also be rented for corporate events, congresses, and conferences. Several rooms are available for you as a host in the Erholungshaus. The rooms can be variably combined. We are happy to offer you a solution tailored entirely to your individual needs. The Grand Hall
On the ground floor of the Erholungshaus lies the Grand Hall. It is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, making it a venue for performances of the highest professionalism. The hall features a classic stage area, consisting of a main stage with a revolving stage, front stage, side stage, and rear stage. The auditorium measures 480 sqm and can be seated both flat and tiered. With row seating, the hall and balcony gallery can accommodate over 680 guests. When fully expanded, the hall offers 960 standing places. The hall provides the perfect setting for theatre and music evenings, dance events, banquets, conferences, and large corporate events.
The Studio
The spacious studio is located on the first floor of the Erholungshaus. With 140 sqm, it offers space for 170 standing places and 121 seats. The studio is equipped with a stage, truss, and a small bar. The tall windows give the room a generous flair. With its modern technical equipment, the studio provides a variety of event possibilities.
The rehearsal foyer
The rehearsal foyer adjacent to the studio on the first upper floor of the building spans 200 sqm. The bright space, structured by pillars, is ideal for standing receptions and presentations. It also serves as the perfect venue for lectures, readings, and small concerts. Seating arrangements can be customized upon request.
Parking at the Erholungshaus
There is a paid parking lot in front of the building. The "Q-Park Luminaden" parking garage is a six-minute walk away and is open 24/7. Two free parking spaces are available in front of the restaurant for people with limited mobility. Additional accessible parking spaces can be provided at the rear of the building (stage entrance) upon prior registration.
